Chennai Super Kings finally won, beating Kolkata by 2 wickets

Chennai Super Kings finally secured their first win of IPL 2025, edging past Kolkata Knight Riders by 2 wickets in a tense finish. Dewald Brevis starred with a rapid 52, helping CSK chase down the target. Despite Varun Chakravarthy’s economical spell, KKR couldn’t defend 179, slipping further in the playoff race.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been fined 25% of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.

The incident occurred during KKR’s match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Eden Gardens on Wednesday. While the IPL didn’t disclose specific details, the breach was classified as a Level 1 offence under Section 2.5.

According to this section, using language, gestures, or actions towards a dismissed batter that could provoke an aggressive reaction is punishable. Varun was penalized for signaling Dewald Brevis to leave the field after taking his wicket an act that violated the code.
