Liverpool winless against 10 men despite double lead

Liverpool, already crowned Premier League champions with four games to spare, saw their post-title form stumble with a 2-2 draw against Arsenal at Anfield. Despite taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the first half through goals from Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz, the Reds conceded twice after the break as Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino leveled the score for the Gunners.

Merino was sent off late in the match for a second yellow card, but Liverpool failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage. Arsenal’s Andy Robertson thought he had a stoppage-time winner, but the goal was ruled out for an earlier foul.

The result leaves Liverpool on 83 points, while Arsenal remain second with 68. Chelsea, who lost to Newcastle, sit third with 66 points, followed closely by Manchester City (65) and Tottenham (63) in a tight race for Champions League qualification.

Earlier, Arsenal players honored the newly crowned champions with a guard of honor, but the Gunners showed no mercy on the pitch, fighting back to deny Liverpool a victory in their first home game since sealing the title.
